6/12 - Day 9

Composition.  Power lines + sky.
Now that's what I call road work (and a detour for that matter).
Chicago is an immensely bike-friendly city.  Signage for the Lakefront trail begins 4 miles south of the trail, with dedicated bike lanes leading all the way to the trail.  The city caters exceptionally well to the bike commuter.
This is the beginning of the Lakefront Trail, sponsored in part by Nike.  The trail stretches N-S along Lake Michigan for 18 miles, running in parallel with Lake Shore Drive.
Still toward the beginning of the trail.  Multiple beaches and pedestrian parks dot the trail, in addition to the museums which allow city visitors to navigate outside of downtown congestion, if they so desire.  A great feature for the summer.
The trail twists + turns revealing momentary glimpses of the notable skyscrapers.  Here Sears Tower.
This is the view from the north lawn at the Field Museum + Shedd Aquarium.  The lawn provides a great resting point for the trail from which the skyline may be admired.
